Yay Lip Products! (A review)

Hello there internet world.
I’m back again with some more reviews. This time I am reviewing some of the lip products that I use every day. I’m going to start with a chapstick, as it is winter  and that is an essential product. I’m going to tell you guys about a product that a lot of people love, and that’s the Burt’s Bees replenishing lip balm. Mine is the one that is infused with pomegranate oil. Let’s start with the positives. This does an amazing thing where in the package it doesn’t smell like much, on your lips it doesn’t smell like much, but when you first apply it and breathe it in, it tastes like pomegranate, which also triggers your nose to smell it. I know that sounds weird, and slightly insane, but it’s true. I find that it does help with chapped lips, which is great considering that’s what its for. Alright, and that’s where my like/hate relationship enters. I am a firm believer that chapstick shouldn't cost more than 3 or so dollars. This cost nearly seven dollars, which I guess it makes up for with how much product there is. I also find that when I put this on it kind of just sits on top of my lips, like a lipgloss. I don’t feel my lips are moisturized and after a while it started to tingle. When I take it off, I find that my lips are flaked. That’s a weird reaction for me to have, and I wonder if it could be an allergy. I honestly have no clue, so this reaction could just be limited to me. For my peace of mind, let me know in the comments if any of you have experienced this. Still, I don’t hate this product because it is better than some of the other lip balms that I have used, but I wouldn’t really recommend it to anyone. I still use this everyday because it was flipping expensive, but i’m not in love with it.
The second product that i’m going to review is my Rimmel stay glossy lip gloss in the color Fuchsia Fever.
I have one of these in the color nonstop glamour. That one is nice, but it kind of only adds glitter and a slight nude color to my lips. I much prefer the fuschia one because the color is beautiful. Literally, it looks like i’m wearing lipstick. It’s not sticky and it lasts for hours, even when I rub my lips together all day. Finally the color really compliments my skin tone, and I think that it can complement a lot of other skin tones as well. In conclusion, I love this lip gloss.
The final product that i’m going to review is a pricier product. It’s the Obsessive Compulsive Lip tar. Mine is in the color Role Play and has a metallic finish.
This is not cheap. It costs 18 dollars and as a college student that was a lot, but I tried it on in Sephora and I just had to have it. The fact that I paid 20 dollars for this one product should clue you in to how much I love it. Here’s why. Number one: this is a lip stain that doesn’t dry out your lips, and it applies really nicely. It lasts literally all day, as long as you don’t drink anything. Considering how much this costs and how beautiful it is, I am willing to waterfall all of my drinks, or stay thirsty. However, some of you may not be willing to do that. Also, you need to apply this with a brush, which it comes with. On to the next great thing about this product. The metallic finish brings so much attention to your lips; it also gives the stain some gloss, and I think that it actually makes my lips look bigger. This is what I wear if i’m going to go anywhere special or if it’s a holiday. Now here’s a warning: when you go to buy this product, it may look kind of small, but you don’t need much of this to get a great look. It’s not something that you need to build up. The way that this looks in the container, is the way that it’s going to look on your lips. Taking that into consideration, there is plenty in the container. The final great thing about this is the fact that it’s cruelty-free! That’s fantastic and makes me feel really great about the brand. For those of you who may not know what that means, it basically means that it wasn’t tested on animals, and that no animals were harmed in order to make this product. It’s also vegan, if that’s something that you guys look for.
Here are some swatches:
The one on the right is the Fuchsia Fever. The one on the left is Role play. Also, ignore the scissors in the background.
That’s all folks! I hope you guys found this helpful, or interesting.
Until next time!

Macquarie University Village, and my obsessive habits

Hello Internet people, I am back with another blog.
I have just been emailed the information for where i’m going to live. Drum roll please. It’s the Macquarie University Village. I was super excited to hear this because they sound amazing. I was hoping that this is where I would live, and low and behold it is. The reason that I really wanted to live here is because the students that live there get their own bedrooms, have king sized beds, and ensuite bathrooms. That is better than any college dorm I’ve seen. So yes, cheers for that. Now, because I am obsessive, I google mapped the shit out if it. I looked to see what stores are nearby, what restaurants are nearby, what the entertainment is like, and most importantly, what’s the best way to get to my friend Victoria in Sydney. Now the program that I was going with originally claimed that Macquarie university was 30 minutes outside of Sydney. That is a lie. To get to my friend and the awesome night life, I will need to take the bus and train, or just the train for over an hour. That’s the equivalent of me going to Poughkeepsie every weekend (about). I just say this to let those of you who be thinking about what University you want to go to while abroad, that Macquarie is a little far. However, I will choose to look at the distance as an adventure, and an opportunity to truly learn the Sydney transportation system (Yay Positivity!)
What I really wanted to tell you guys was that I am now online window shopping at Woolworths (the supermarket). As I said before, I google mapped the shit out of my apartment. The supermarket is in front of the mall, which is about a five minute walk from the entrance of the University, but a 23 minute walk from my apartment (according to google maps). Now if this was Ithaca, that would be a problem. As it isn’t Ithaca, it’s not a problem because the weather will be nice in Sydney. Taking a 46 minute walk every time I want to do groceries isn’t that bad. Think of how fit i’ll be.
Anyway, the reason that i’m shopping at a grocery store online is because i’m trying to budget. I’m currently “buying” 2 weeks worth of food, and seeing how much that comes out too. Then i’m going to convert it to american money and see exactly how much I should really be budgeting for groceries while I am in Australia. Ideally, I would like to have enough money to take vacations while in Australia, and to leave Australia with awesome memories, and enough money to pay the rent in the summer. I find that to be hilarious. In conclusion, an average month’s worth of groceries will be about 200-300 dollars.  That is not that bad. I’ll do an update and let you guys know if I found that to be accurate. Fun fact: a paw paw is a papaya.
Thank you for reading this!

Bye everyone!

Stuff I just learned about my trip!

Hello everyone,
I am back with another blog!
My time in Sydney is going to be amazing!  I’m really excited to go on the dinner cruise, I just found out I will be going on! While I will be incredibly jet lagged by then (damn that 14 hour time difference), i’m still really excited to do something that fancy and fun. I won’t reveal everything, but we also get to go on a jet boat. Isn’t that amazing? The adventures are going to begin immediately, and I shall feel like i’m in Flo Rida’s Wild Ones video. After O week, which isn’t as dirty as it sounds (it’s orientation week), we’re going to go see the Koalas and Kangaroos at the wildlife park (the zoo). That’s everything that i’m going to say about this.
As it gets closer to the time to leave we get more information about our upcoming trip and it just makes me more excited. But, this trip is still about 4 weeks away, which is too far for me to feel any anxiety about it. I will let you guys know how bad my anxiety was, and how I dealt with it when I land in Florida in about 2.475 weeks. Yes, I am taking a mini (8 day) vacation with my bestie Victoria, ‘cause she’s also coming to Australia, woop, woop! Also super exciting, the Wizarding World of Harry Potter (Harry Potter world, as I call it), and Disney world (again!:D). A packing tip that I was told by IES, my school’s affiliated study abroad program, was to bring cosmetics and toiletries from home because they can get quite expensive in Australia. It’s a good thing that I was planning to bring all of that anyway. This may mean that i’m going to need to pack 2 suitcases and a duffle bag, instead of just 1 suitcase and a duffle bag. I don’t know, but I will let you guys know what I packed, and at the end of my trip i’ll tell you what I actually needed/ended up using.
The final thing that i’m going to talk about is cellphones. We have been told repeatedly to just buy a prepaid phone in Australia, but I have also just been informed that I can bring my “american” phone and have that connected to an Australian mobile provider. I just have to have my phone open? I have no idea what that means, but I will find out and tell you guys what I ended up doing about the phone situation. That’s all folks!
Thanks for reading this!

Until next time

Review of Rimmel concealers and Maybelline the Falsies

Hello everyone, i’m back again, but this time with some reviews. Since I have no life at the moment and am extremely bored, I thought that I would update you all with some of my favorite products. I’m going to start the way that I start my makeup: with concealers. Shocker I don’t actually wear foundation because it makes the skin on my face feel like it’s suffocating. Yes, my pores can feel panic. I’ll admit that I have a tiny (massive) obsession with Youtube. I’m going to warn you all now that if you have seen Tanya Burr’s youtube videos, some of these products will seem familiar to you.
I’m going to start with Rimmel. I freaking love my Match perfection concealer. While Rimmel is available here in the states, it is a pain in my butt to track it down. I have literally been to Duane Reade’s and Targets all over Manhattan and can’t ever seem to find the wake me up concealer or foundation (Ugh! get it together, Duane Reade). Since trying to find anything Wake Me up is like trying to find money on the street, I had to make due with the match perfection concealer( my color is 430 medium).  Now that may sound bad, but I actually love it. In fact, I love it so much that I went out and bought a second one because I was halfway through my first. It is a great concealer and blends perfectly with my skin. It covers everything that I need to cover beautifully, and what makes it even better is that it’s cheap.  The brush you apply it with is also really soft. It feels like feathers, but sturdier. I don’t remember how much it cost, but it was definitely a few dollars under a 10.  I insist that you all run out and buy it now. I don’t think that you’ll regret it. My only complaint is that it has a matte finish, which for most of the year is fine. However now that it is winter, my skin has dried out (the horror), so I find myself reaching for my, wait for it, Rimmel wake me up concealer (also in the color 430 medium)!!
I managed to find that bad boy in the Wegman’s in Ithaca. I love this concealer. I love this concealer so much, that I went out to 5 stores in an attempt to find the foundation. I couldn’t find it :(. I have left Ithaca and have no back ups of this miracle concealer, so i’m using it sparingly. Can someone please point me to a store that sells it?
Alright, back on track. This concealer is amazing! It claims to give a radiant glow effect and it does. That’s not a joke, and that’s not an exaggeration. When I wear this my skin looks healthy and other people can notice that my skin is glowing. In fact, my nine year old niece noticed and told me in amazement that my skin “was like glowing,” and yes, she did mean that as a compliment, and not in a Twilight vampire kind of way. I don’t know what else to tell you guys. Go and buy it, it’s the best thing that has ever been on my face, and so many people have great things to say about it because it truly is incredible. If you’re having trouble believing that the product is as good as I say it is, then go listen to all of the beauty gurus on youtube that rave about it. I don’t mind.
My final review for this blog post is the Maybelline the falsies mascara. I will admit that I went out and bought this after hearing great reviews about it from Tanya Burr. This mascara isn’t that expensive, and I definitely love it. The packaging is nice (I like purple), the wand is bendy, which I think is a lot of fun (is that immature?), and the mascara is fantastic. My eyelashes are absolute crap. They’re not long, they’re not thick and there’s not a lot of them. When I wear this mascara, which is everyday, my eyelashes are the exact opposite. The mascara gives incredible length and volume. I now know why they’re called the falsies, and it’s because when you wear this your eyelashes look so good, that they look like false ones. Except not really, it more looks like you’re one of those girls that have been blessed with naturally perfect eyelashes. Considering that this mascara costs about 8 or 9 dollars, I highly recommend that you go out and try it for yourself. Unfortunately I ran out of it and have to go buy new one when I actually get money. Until then my lashes will continue to look like poo. And that concludes this really long blog post.
Here’s a picture of all the products, just in case you were dying to see them:
Yes, the match perfection is well loved.

Thank you for reading this to the end and I hope that you find some of these reviews helpful.

Bye everyone!

Pre-departure Boredom

It has only been a week since I’ve come back from Ithaca and i’m nowhere near ready to go yet. I’m about to embark on the greatest adventure of my life. I’m going to study abroad in Australia for the next four months. I must admit that it doesn’t feel like i’m leaving yet because my semester in Australia doesn’t begin until March. Since I spent the past month working at the library in hopes of earning some extra cash for my trip, i’m really glad to be home and spending the last few weeks before I leave with my family. Still, I am incredibly jealous when my friends text me pictures of them going out to parties, because I can’t go out yet. Sadly, in Manhattan you must be 21 years of age to go out to the club. Not to worry though, the same is not true in Sydney, so it’s only 4 weeks until I am an official adult, and not the restricted adult that I am here in U.S.
You may be asking yourself: What was the point of this random ramble (haha, say that five times fast)? I just thought that I would begin blogging by writing about the pre departure mood that i’m in. I’m about to have the time of my life, but that hasn’t begun yet. Fact numero uno: Before going abroad, expect days and weeks of doing nothing but thinking about how you’re about to leave, watching Youtube, reading fanfiction, and if you’re like me, blowing over five hundred dollars shopping, because you simply can’t go to Australia without cute clothes to wear. After all, you have to look your best, right? Of course, all of the justifying that I did, did absolutely nothing to calm my guilt about spending that much money in 2 weeks. Well, I really need a job in Australia now, so i’ll let you guys know how that goes and end the pointlessness here.
Goodbye everyone!
Until next time
