Hello Internet people,
As promised, I'm back with another blog. This one isn't quite as miserable as the last one, in fact, I hope that you guys actually enjoy this one. I'm going to go all the way back to when I first got here (Australia). On the first day, we were taken on a dinner cruise on the harbour. This was pretty fun. I was wearing 4 inch wedges and was desperately trying not to fall down, but I got to see Victoria, and meet some really nice people. Dinner was decent, and if I remembered what it was, I would tell you how it tasted, but I don't remember. What I do remember that each table got a bottle of champagne. I only had 3 glasses, but it was a really good champagne and no doubt cost a lot of money, but since I didn't pay for it, I don't care. What I found really exciting about the cruise was seeing the Sydney Opera house and the Harbour bridge.
That was a lot of fun, and after that IES took us back to our rooms. Once back in my room I had a breakdown of epic proportions and realized that I needed to get out of Macquarie.
So, the next day was our official orientation with IES. I had to get up extremely early to catch the train because the buses weren't running that early in the morning (7AM). Myself and a couple of other people walked half an hour across campus in order to catch the train. That wasn't that fun, but the trains were freakin' cool. They're double decker trains and I was obsessed with them. It was really exciting to me for some strange reason (Cough, tourist, cough). Orientation wasn't as fun, but we did learn some Australian slang, and I learned that I am flat broke. I am so broke, that by the end of this trip I will have zero dollars, or negative money.
Anyway, later on we had an awesome lunch in Darling Harbour at a place called blackbird. The food was awesome, and I fell madly in love with sweet chill sauce. I do remember what the food was. We got flat bread pizza and chips(fries) for appetizers and my main course was a chicken burger with more chips! I will definitely need to go back there again. About an hour later my friends on got on our jet boat ride and that was AMAZING! It was everything that I thought it would be and I never wanted it to end, but after 20 minutes of awesome turns and jumps, the ride did end. I have to tell you all that once the driver started going fast, he played music. The very first song that he played was (pause for dramatic effect) Wild ones by Flo Rida! I was so excited that I teared up a little. Yes, it was a very emotional weekend, and yes, I did feel like I was in the Wild one's music video.
Now since this blog is getting horrendously long, I will end it here, and tomorrow I will upload part two of this blog. Thank you all so much for reading. Hope you enjoyed.
Here are some extra pictures of my first weekend in Sydney
February is the month of love in Sydney, and this is celebrated with a bunch of romantic events, and finished with fireworks at the harbour on the last day of February.
A very blurry picture of an island in the harbour.
A picture of the city, because this was hours after I landed, and I was very excited to be in Sydney, so I took lots of pictures of everything.
Until next time!
